Residents in the 400 block of South7th Street woke up to a section of the neighborhood taped off and about a dozen cops and detectives canvassing the area.
According to one resident, just before 7:30 a.m., the block was normal but when he checked back outside at 7:45 a.m., ’total mayhem’ was occurring and he hadn't heard one sound of shots-fired.
Police located the victim suffering a non-fatal bullet wound according to reports.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital where doctors treated his injuries.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting and residents said officers broke down the crime scene about an hour later.
