Authorities are investigating a Friday evening shooting that left a woman injured inside a residential building in Rahway, officials said.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the single-digit block of Carriage City Plaza. Police responded after receiving reports of an injured person inside the building.
When officers arrived, they located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, though officials have not confirmed the extent of her injuries.
In a brief statement posted on social media, Rahway Police described the event as an “isolated incident” that occurred inside a single apartment at 1 Carriage City Plaza.
Officials emphasized that there was “no threat to the public.”
It remains unclear whether the shooting was self-inflicted or if police are seeking a suspect.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
