Woman Fatally Struck by Train Near Ramsey Station Sunday Morning

Authorities are investigating after a woman was fatally struck by a train in Ramsey on the morning of March 8.

According to information provided by NJ Transit, the incident occurred at approximately 10:49 a.m. just west of the Main Street railroad crossing near the Ramsey station.

 

Officials said the train involved was traveling from Port Jervis toward Hoboken when it struck the unidentified woman along the tracks. 

There were approximately 150 passengers on board the train at the time of the incident.
 

Rail service on the line was temporarily suspended in both directions between Allendale and Port Jervis while authorities responded and conducted their investigation. 

Service has since resumed, though delays of up to 30 minutes were reported.

 

NJ Transit Police are leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
