Woman Enters Newark University Hospital Suffering Bullet Wound

Authorities in Newark are trying to piece together the circumstances behind a shooting that left a woman injured in the city earlier today. 

According to a preliminary investigation, just before noon, officials at University Hospital contacted police when a female in her early 30's was dropped off at University Hospital suffering bullet wounds. 

Newark Police officers arrived at the hospital and were told by a female -who drove the woman to the medical center- that two males allegedly exited a vehicle near the intersection of South Orange Avenue near 15th Street and told her that there was a female inside the car shot. 

According to reports, the woman entered the car and drove the wounded victim to the hospital. Police say the driver said she did not know the victim. 

During the investigation, police were able to locate a crime scene at a residence in the 100 block of Isabella Avenue. 

The victim's condition has not been listed as a fatality at this time and the investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing. 

Police officials have not confirmed the driver's accounts of the incident as being legitimate.
