Union Township Police are looking into the cause of a double pedestrian strike that sent a mother and her child to the hospital Saturday afternoon.
Officials said in a state that the incident happed around 2:38 p.m. at the Union Plaza Shopping Center located at 2401 Route 22 west.
Police say the woman and her 8-year-old child were struck by a driver who was reportedly driving careless through the parking lot.
Both victims were transported to University Hospital in Newark, where their injuries appear to be non-life threatening at this time.
The driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for Careless Driving.
