West Orange Man Gets 30 Months for Fatal Crash that Killed Friend

West Orange New Jersey

Alberto Nunez was sentenced to 30 months in prison yesterday for causing the fatal crash back on September 2010, that killed his 18-year-old friend.

On September 18, 2010, Nunez crashed his 1995 Acura Integra into a utility pole on Ridge Road in Cedar Grove sometime around 1 a.m.

According to reports, the three friends were returning from Rutgers and Montclair State universities,

Adreana Nelson, 18, was ejected from the rear window suffering severe head and bodily injuries. She later died.

Nunez and front seat passenger, Odane M. Neale, 21, also of West Orange were transported to Mountainside Hospital for treatment.

Back in September 2013, Nunez was acquitted of aggravated manslaughter.

Yesterday, the judge sentenced Nunez to 30-month after finding that Nunez did not contemplate that his conduct would cause or threaten serious harm. The fact that Nunez had no criminal record lead me to believe that circumstances are unlikely to reoccur, added the judge.
