Authorities in Essex County are investigating an attempted burglary in West Orange that may be connected to a similar incident reported earlier in Nutley.

According to preliminary information, police were dispatched to the area of 7 Nance Road in West Orange shortly after 1 a.m. on June 16 for a reported interrupted burglary.
Responding officers learned that the suspects fled the scene in a black SUV.
A subsequent alert identified the vehicle as a black Jeep Grand Cherokee bearing New York registration plates.
Authorities believe the SUV may be the same vehicle involved in an earlier attempted burglary in Nutley.
Police reports indicate that three suspects were observed fleeing southbound toward Mount Pleasant Avenue after the burglary attempt was interrupted.
No injuries were reported, and it was not immediately clear if any property was taken.
The incidents remain under active investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact their local police department.
