Passaic County officials announce that at approximately 6:32 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, police responded to Cahill Cross Road near the intersection of Ridge Road in West Milford where a single vehicle had crashed.
According to officials, a 2016 Hyundai Veloster, which was being operated by Jimmy Barreto-Cruz, 21, of West Milford, was found overturned in the woods along Cahill Cross Road. Mr. Barreto-Cruz was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of death is unknown at this time. There were no other vehicles involved.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
