A Paterson man is facing multiple charges after a string of vehicle thefts and burglaries that spanned several North Jersey communities earlier this month, according to information sent by Wayne Police officials.

Authorities said the incident began during the early morning hours of November 3, 2025, when a vehicle reported stolen out of Totowa Borough was discovered on Boonstra Drive in Wayne.

Detectives Ray Caronia and Nick Henriquez launched an investigation and canvassed the neighborhood for surveillance footage.

Video images obtained from local cameras showed a man breaking into vehicles in the area.

Those images were distributed to surrounding law enforcement agencies, and the suspect was soon recognized by members of the Paterson Police Department.

Later that morning, police learned that a landscaping truck had also been stolen in the same area.

Wayne detectives immediately alerted nearby departments, leading to a coordinated search.

Within hours, officers from the Paterson Police Street Crimes Unit located the stolen truck and took the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Moises Echevarria of Paterson, into custody without incident.

Echevarria, who was already wanted on other matters, was transported to the Morris County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including:

Receiving stolen property

Theft of a motor vehicle

Burglary to a motor vehicle

Two counts of theft

Two counts of attempted burglary to a motor vehicle

Wayne Police credited strong interagency cooperation and swift detective work for the quick arrest, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.
