Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that Asante Cugliari, 23, of Wayne, has been indicted in relation to an August 9, 2020 motor vehicle accident that occurred in the City of Paterson that left one person dead.
A Passaic County Grand Jury has returned an indictment, charging Mr. Cugliari with multiple crimes in relation to that crash.
According to county officials, Mr. Cugliari was indicted on two counts of second-degree Death by Auto, and one count of third-degree Strict Liability Vehicular Homicide.
The Honorable Scott Rumana, J.S.C., previously granted the State’s motion to revoke the pretrial release of the Defendant, and he is currently detained in Passaic County Jail pending the disposition of this case. Mr. Cugliari will be scheduled for arraignment in the near future before a Superior Court Judge.
