Washington Township Man Arrested for Possession of Explicit Images of Minors

Craig S. Gibson, 44, of Washington Township, was arrested on January 24, and charged with one count of Possession of explicit images of minors (3rd degree), Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore announced.

Officials say In June 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Philadelphia Region Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Task Force began an investigation into the sharing and distribution of explicit images of minors on the Internet.

This lengthy investigation led to the identification of Craig S. Gibson of Washington Township. Following the execution of a search warrant at his residence, electronic media was located that contained known explicit images of minors items.

This investigation also led to the identification of one child victim based on the material found on Gibson’s computer, according to officials.

The United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Gibson at his home on Friday, January 24.

Gibson was transported to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was processed and subsequently lodged in the Salem County Jail on the strength of a complaint-warrant, pending a detention hearing.

Detectives from the GCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit were assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Philadelphia Region Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Task Force, United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force, Washington Township Police Department and the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of their rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State Law.
