Wanted Fugitive Arrested in Jamaica; Extradition to Bergen County Pending

Bergen County

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced that a former East Orange man, currently living in Kingston, Jamaica, was taken into custody Tuesday morning.

During the course of an undercover narcotics operation in December 2001, Davey Scott, 48, attempted to sell over 25 pounds of marijuana to an undercover detective of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force.

As officers moved in to arrest Scott, he attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle, striking a detective.

Police arrested, charged Scott and ultimately indicted him for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with the Intent to Distribute the Same, a crime of the 1st Degree; Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, a crime of the 2nd Degree; and Hindering Apprehension, a crime of the 3rd Degree.

Upon posting bond, Scott failed to appear in Bergen County Superior Court to answer the charges and on January 9, 2004. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest. In 2007, he was added to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Most Wanted List.

Over the next 13 years, detectives from the BCPO and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Service NY/ NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, gathered intelligence and followed leads to determine Scott’s whereabouts.

Authorities eventually located Scott in Kingston, Jamaica, where he was actively working as a DJ under the moniker “DJ Tallman.”

Given that Scott is a Jamaican National, prosecutors and detectives were granted the right to extradite Scott to the United States to face the aforementioned charges.

During the early morning hours of Jan. 23rd, Scott was arrested in Kingston, Jamaica without incident by the United States Marshals Service and is being lodged in a facility in Jamaica pending extradition to the United States.
