A violent overnight shooting that erupted in Irvington Township overnight has police searching for a gunman.
The incident unfolded at approximately 10:35 a.m. in the teens block of Elmwood Avenue where police received reports of shots fired with a person down at that location.
Several units arrived at the scene and found a male victim struck by gunfire according to police.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital in Newark where doctors treated serious injuries.
A second person suffered injuries, but police say that individual was not struck by gunfire.
Police combed through the crime scene in search for evidence to support a motive for the incident. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
The latest shooting is the about the second gunfire incident -with injuries- in the township this week.
