Violent Crash Causes Severe Injuries to One on Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County

NJ State Police officials are looking into the cause of a crash that severely injured a person on a highway in Monmouth County Sunday morning. 

Police and other emergency responders rushed to the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway to investigate reports of a crash with possible trapped occupants inside a burning vehicle. 

When rescue crews arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle on fire and a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person lying on the roadway suffering injuries. 

CPR was administered to the victim before EMS transported them to an area hospital for additional treatment. 

Responders extinguished the car fire then checked for trapped and injured occupants, which came back negative. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation. 

There were no other injuries reported.
