Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that had several vehicles damaged in the city's Central Ward over night.
Cops were called to the scene at around 2:30 a.m. after receiving calls of a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire in the 700 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Spruce Street.
As units of arrived to the scene, they found several shell casings and about two vehicles that was damaged according to reports.
Residents said that about an hour before officers arrived to the scene, nearly a half dozen rounds of gunfire rang out in the area from possibly a moving vehicle possibky attempting to strike several males that spend most of their overnight hours engaged in some type of activities around the buildings.
"You could hear the young men running into the hallways at the time of the shooting asking each other if they were ok" one resident said.
Although EMS were observed at the scene, it is not clear if anyone one was injured.
"I was too afraid to look out the window" the resident continued.
Newark Police are investigating.
