Authorities checked area hospitals for walk-in victims after gunfire erupted in a neighborhood in Newark Tuesday night.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 821 South 19th Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. where first arriving officers found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a thorough check of the area, officers were not able to locate a victim according to preliminary reports.
Police found multiple shell casings that littered the crime scene and vehicle that were struck by bullets during the shots fired incident.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There were no suspects arrested according to reports.
