Newark Woman Arrested in Hillside Avenue Shooting
Newark Police are reporting the arrest of Ms. Nastassia Hernandez, 39, of Newark, in connection with a shooting yesterday.
Police said just before 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification at 27-39 Johnson Avenue.
According to police, responding officers located a female victim at 399 Irvine Turner Boulevard who had been shot.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
Police say Nastassia Hernandez was located at 64 Hillside Avenue with a graze wound.
She was also transported to University Hospital for treatment.
A third victim was located at Hillside Avenue with an injury. She, too, was transported to University Hospital police said.
During their investigation, detectives determined that Hernandez had fired a handgun following an altercation with another woman at Hillside Avenue.
Hernandez faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.
