The drivers of three other vehicles who were involved in the crash were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and were treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Aleksander Isserovich, 38, of Brooklyn, New York was charged with driving under the influence and was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center – Perth Amboy Division for his injuries.

New Jersey State Trooper Rafael Castro and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the crash.

A 911 call reported that the driver of a tractor trailer was allegedly driving erratically before the crash.

The investigation determined that Isserovich was traveling on Route 440 South, near milepost 2.7, and rear ended the Hyundai Sonata driven by Appio. The Sonata jolted forward striking another passenger vehicle. The tractor trailer then jackknifed and hit two other passenger cars.

The investigation is active and is continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Jersey State Trooper Rafael Castro at ‪(908) 725-0107‬ or Detective Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at ‪(732) 745-8842‬.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Isserovich are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
