Police in Linden took a Vermont man into custody then charged him with an early Saturday morning DWI crash that occurred in the city.
According to a statement released by Linden Police officials, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the suspect traveled in his vehicle westbound on East Linden Avenue when it struck a utility pole just before Willow Glade Avenue.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, Petro Bezpalko, 40, of Manchester Center, Vermont, was not injured but officers placed him under arrest after determining that he was under the influence during the crash.
Police closed East Linden Ave between Willow Glade and South Park avenues for several hours while crews repaired the pole.
There were no other injuries reported.
