UPDATE: Vehicle Stolen Out of Old Bridge Wanted for Newark Shooting

Police seek the public's help in identifying a car occupied by a suspect who is wanted for a shooting that occurred on Saturday morning in Newark's South Ward.

According to authorities, at approximately 11:39 a.m., police responded to the 100-block of Avon Avenue on a call of shots fired.

Upon officers arrival to the scene, they found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound in the 100 block of Jelliff Avenue according to police.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Major Crimes detectives investigating the shooting have identified a black 2017 Infinity QX80 that fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Police provided a stock photo of the vehicle sought along with the actual suspect vehicle. Officers patrolling the Chancellor Avenue border spotted the car and began to follow at around 11:50 p.m. but the driver sped away towards Irvington.

While police are actively searching for the suspect vehicle, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing it and its occupants from city streets.
