UPDATE: Three Arrested in Shooting of 12-Year-Old Boy in Jersey City

Police took three males into custody and charged them with the shooting of a 12-year-old boy in Jersey City Tuesday.

According to arrest information released by Kimberly Wallace Scalcione, Mr. Jashaun Tate, 18, Mr. Damari Blackwell, 18, and Mr. Marc Taylor, 19, were directly involved in the shooting that injured the boy in the area of Oak and Martin Luther King Drive just before 6 p.m.

The unidentified boy was struck in the ankle then transported to Jersey City Medical Center, suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Police located and chased the vehicle, which was reportedly stolen at a location in Bergen County according to reports.

Police stopped the vehicle at the ramp to the New Jersey Turnpike near Newark Airport, took four suspects into custody and recovered a Intratec MOD AB-10 9mm, serial number partially defaced and a Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun, according to Jersey City Police.

Police say the suspects were captured in the area of the NJ Turnpike, Route 1&9 near Liberty International Airport in Newark was taken to Jersey City Medical Center.

Police charged the trio with criminal attempt, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, illegal large-capacity magazine, receiving stolen property, unlawful taking of means of conveyance.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, according to Spokeswoman Wallace-Scalcione.
