Authorities in East Orange are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old male with a minor injury after an altercation involving a stolen bicycle turned violent Tuesday evening.

According to information released by the East Orange Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on June 4, 2025, near 139 North Arlington Avenue.
The teenager was attempting to recover a bicycle that reportedly belonged to his friend and had been previously stolen.
While trying to retrieve the bike from a suspect, a second individual intervened and opened fire, grazing the teen on his left calf.
The juvenile sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to Rutgers Hospital, where he received treatment.
Investigators confirmed that a 9mm handgun was used during the incident.
