UPDATE: Suspects Wanted for Newark West Ward Shooting Occupied Jersey City Carjacked Vehicle

Police in Newark are on the search for suspected responsible for a shooting that injured a male in Newark's West Ward on Saturday. 

In the incident, police say suspects occupying a blue Honda reportedly carjacked from a location in Jersey City pulled up in the area of 18th Avenue and Melrose Place and began firing multiple times around 7:15 p.m.

Police received calls reporting a vehicle struck by bullets, but when they arrived to investigate, no victims were found.

Officials at University Hospital notified police that a male suffering bullet wounds entered the emergency department around 7:20 p.m. Police have not confirmed the extent of his injuries at this time.

Authorities believe that the suspect's vehicle has temporary NJ license plates, "W169915".

The motive for the attack has not been released at this time.
