Police in Newark issues a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Elijah Gaffney, 21, of Newark, on a charge of aggravated assault in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday, May 29th.
According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 1:42 a.m., the victim responded to Beth Israel Hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police say the victim reported that she was shot near Osborne Terrace and Scheerer Avenue shortly before arriving at the hospital.
Detectives assigned to the Newark Police Major Crimes Shooting Response Team investigating this incident have identified Gaffney as the suspect then secured a warrant for his arrest.
While police are actively searching for Gaffney, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from Newark streets.
