Update: Staten Island Man Injured by Gunfire at Elizabeth Gas Station

Police are on the search for a man accused of shooting a man Monday morning at an Elizabeth gas station.

According to police, at approximately 5:44 a.m., patrol units responded to a report of a man shot at 720 Spring Street, the Delta Gas station.

Upon arriving, officers found the victim, a 36-year-old Staten Island man, suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

According to the victim, he was accosted in the store by a black male - described as approximately 5'11" tall, last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants - who brandished a silver automatic handgun.

The victim attempted to push the suspect back out of the store to close the door on him but the suspect fired a shot, injuring him in his right leg.

The armed man took off in an unknown black vehicle south on Rt. 1 & 9 after reportedly taking $130.00 cash from the gas attendant.

The victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was listed in stable condition.

An investigation is underway by Detectives from the Elizabeth Police Dept. Detective Bureau.
