Update: Six Students, Teacher Sent to Hospital After Union High School Spill

An acid commonly used in vinegar and for printing, spilled in a science classroom, impacting a teacher and six students at approximately 8 a.m this morning.

The teacher and the students were sent to area hospitals for evaluations on what officials described as non-life threatening situations.

According to officials, 19 other students and a custodian were evaluated and released.

The classroom has been cleaned by Union County Hazmat, and conditions reportedly back to normal.

The Union Township Fire and Police Departments also responded, assessing and securing the school.

All other students and staff in the school were moved to safe zones such as the gym and auditorium.

The high school was dismissed at 11:30 a.m., according to county spokesperson.
