Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting killed a teenaged girl overnight in the city.
Gunfire rang out in the 100 block of South 10th Street a little past 12:30 a.m. sending police and EMS rushing to the scene where they located the unidentified girl suffering serious injuries after being shot at that location.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital she died from her injuries authorities said.
A second female was transported to University Hospital suffering minor injuries but it is not immediately known if she was shot.
She was treated and released according to reports.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There were no immediate reports of arrest made.
