UPDATE: Second Man Dies in Overnight Shooting in Orange

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Orange Police Director Todd R. Warren announced today that the Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a double homicide in Orange.

According to authorities, at approximately 7 p.m. Monday night, police responded to a call of shot fired.

Police said two men were discovered in the 100 block of Taylor Street in Orange suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics pronounced Mr. Randall Price, 50, dead at the scene at 7:44 p.m.

Police said the second victim, Mr. Rodney Chery, 41, was transported to University Hospital in Newark where he underwent surgery.

Chery died of his injuries at 10:40 p.m.

Authorities said both men are residents of Orange.

The investigation is active an ongoing. No other information is available.
