Police officials in Newark believe that a male gunshot victim who self-transported to a hospital in Newark suffered his injuries after gunfire rang out on Goodwin Avenue on Friday night.
According to police, officials at Beth Israel Medical Center contacted authorities when the victim arrived at the hospital at around 7:30 p.m., suffering a bullet wound.
Police say residents in the 90's block of Goodwin Avenue dialed when they heard several loud popping noises in the area at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Several Newark South Ward Police officers arrived and found a male teenager suffering bullet wounds in his leg and hand at that location, according to police.
EMS rushed the boy to University Hospital in Newark in stable condition. Police have not released the status of the victim who entered the hospital.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
