Police in Newark are trying to determine if a shooting victim found Sunday morning on Parkhurst Street is connected to overnight gunfire that erupted in the same downtown community.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of a person shot in the vicinity of 46 Parkhurst Street shortly before 11 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male victim suffering serious injuries after being shot at that location.
Police said the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and remain at the medical center.
