Police in Newark are requesting the public’s help in identifying a male suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on Sunday, March 15.
Police say at approximately 6:45 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Dewey Street and Edwin Place on a call of shots fired.
The suspect exited a gray BMW X6, which was occupied by three other males, and fired a handgun at a person or persons at the location.
Police say the suspect then re-entered the vehicle, which fled south on Edwin Place.
No injuries or property damage has been reported according to police.
While detectives investigating this incident are actively searching for the suspect and vehicle, they seek the public’s help in quickly identifying him as part of this investigation.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6-ft. tall and 250 lbs. with a medium complexion and a light-colored full beard.
He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, a black and white jacket with a large white cross design on the back and a messenger bag around his neck.
