Authorities in Union County announced that on Friday, August 22, a Piscataway man was sentenced to 25 years in state prison for the fatal shooting of Jameer Outsey, 27, of Bridgewater, that took place in Elizabeth in 2023.
Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel stated that Union County Superior Court Judge Candido Rodriguez Jr. sentenced Maurice Pierce, 25, to 25 years in State Prison for first-degree aggravated manslaughter and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, directing that he must serve at least 85% of that sentence before being eligible for parole.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 12, 2023, Elizabeth Police Officers responded to the area of North Broad Street and Magnolia Avenue in Elizabeth after reports of a male with a gunshot wound.
Upon their arrival, they located Outsey, who was transported to a local area hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead, according to Assistant Prosecutor Robert Grady.
