A fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian is under investigation in Linden following a collision on East Edgar Road Tuesday night.

Police responded to the 2500 block of East Edgar Road shortly before 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash.
Preliminary findings indicate that a 2019 Dodge SUV was traveling northbound on Route 1 when it struck a 63-year-old man who was crossing the roadway.
The pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to Newark University Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the SUV was not injured in the incident.
According to the Linden Police Department, the crash remains under active investigation by the department’s Traffic Bureau.
