Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that on June 25, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Paterson Police were dispatched to the area of 33 Belle Avenue on a report of shots fired.
Upon their arrival, officers located evidence of a crime scene in the area of 41 Belle Avenue but did not locate a victim.
A short time later, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that Mr. Yeshawn Staggers, 27, from Paterson, was transported St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for a gunshot wound but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
