As a result of the investigation, Police arrested Mr. Smith on Friday, in Paterson, and charged him with one count of Aggravated Arson, and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Authorities said after processing Mr. Smith, they remanded him to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance at the Bergen County Central Judicial Court on Monday, October 16, 2017, at 1:00 p.m.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
