UPDATE: Two Dead, One Critical in Separate Newark South Ward Shootings

A violent shooting spree that occurred in three separate Newark South Ward neighborhoods have one person confirmed dead and two others fighting for their lives.

According to preliminary reports, police responded to shots fired that rang out in the 300 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard at around 7:25 p.m. where they arrived to find a male victim unconscious and unresponsive at that location.

The male was pronounced dead a short time later.

At around 8 p.m., police found a male suffering a gunshot wound to the back on Goodwin and Shepard avenues. The victim told police that he was shot on Leslie Street.

Police established a crime scene in the 200 block of Leslie where they are now searching for evidence.

The victim's injuries are reported as critical at this time.

The final shooting occurred at around 8:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Hedden Terrace where police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired and a person down.

Upon their arrival, officers found a female victim suffering "life-threatening" injuries after being shot according to reports .

The woman was rushed to University Hospital where doctors are treating.

All of this evening shootings remain under investigation.

UPDATE 9:15 p.m. The woman from Hedden Terrace has been pronounced dead.
