An overnight shooting in Newark has a man fighting for his life and police searching for the gunman responsible for the crime.
Police responded to several calls reporting shots fired that rang out in the 600 block of South 19th Street where officers arrived at the scene as requested EMS on a rush after finding a male victim struck multiple times by gunfire at that location.
According to preliminary reports, EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in stable condition after finding him struck to the neck and abdomen.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
In another shooting incident, police setup a crime scene in the 700 block of South 19th Street after receiving reports of a person shot at that location before 4 a.m.
The victim reportedly suffered two gunshot wounds when EMS made the transport to University Hospital. There were non-life threatening injuries reported as of 4:30 a.m.
Authorities have not confirmed if the shootings are connected.
