UPDATE: One Dead in Marlboro Car Crash

According to authorities, on Saturday, October 14, at 5:24 a.m. the Marlboro Township Police Department received numerous emergency calls reporting a motor vehicle accident on State Route 18 North in the area of the Texas Road overpass just prior to US Highway 9.

Upon police arrival, it was determined that three (3) motor vehicles were involved in the accident where one person suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information is that the accident involved a silver Hyundai Elantra, a black Dodge pick-up truck and a red Dodge pick-up truck. Information pertaining to the involved drivers identities is being withheld at this time until notifications to the next of kin can be made.

The New Jersey State Department of Transportation responded to assist with closing the highway while the accident scene is being investigated.

Authorities said at this time State Route 18 northbound is closed from Monmouth County Route 3 (Tennent Road) to US Highway 9.

The cause of the accident is being investigation by Cpl. Kenneth Marrone of the Marlboro Township Police Department’s Traffic and Safety Bureau. Responding to the motor vehicle accident was the Old Bridge Township Police Department, Robertsville Fire Department and the Old Bridge First Aid Squad.
