UPDATE: NJ Transit Police Launch Investigation into Fatal Train Collision in Union Township

New Jersey Transit Police officials are investigating a train strike that claimed the life of a person Wednesday night.AdThe incident took place at approximately 10:20 p.m. when Raritan Valley Line train 5155, departing from Penn Station, New York, at 9:48 p.m. with an expected arrival time of 11:08 p.m. at Raritan, struck and fatally injured a pedestrian.

Officials said the incident had no reported injuries among the approximately 200 passengers or the train crew.

The quick response and professionalism of the crew ensured the safety of those on board.

In the immediate aftermath of the accident, Raritan Valley Line service was temporarily suspended in both directions.

However, transit authorities have since resumed service, working diligently to minimize disruptions for commuters.
