Authorities in Newark are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a downtown Bank of America branch on Wednesday morning. According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, the incident occurred around 9:35 a.m. when police responded to reports of an armed suspect inside the Bank of America located at 1 Springfield Avenue.

Director Fragé told RLS Media that the suspect reportedly approached a teller, revealing a bag containing a long gun, before quickly leaving the premises.
Shortly afterward, a passerby alerted an officer to a robbery at a nearby business on Branford Place involving a suspect whose description matched that of the individual at the bank. Both incidents remain under active investigation, and authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported in either case.
