UPDATE: Newark Central Ward Shooting Victim Was 16-Year-Old Girl

Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that injured a juvenile girl Monday night in the city's Central Ward. 

Newark Police officials said it happened in the 300 block of Springfield Avenue just before 11 p.m. 

According to police, officials at Beth Israel Hospital contacted authorities when a 16-year-old juvenile female arrived at the emergency department with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. 

 Police say they believe the girl was near Dunkin Donuts when she was grazed by the bullet then transported to the hospital for treatment. 

This incident remains under investigation.
