The Union County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit is investigating an incident in which a missing child was found in Elizabeth’s Phil Rizzuto Park Tuesday afternoon.
According to authorities, a family member reported the 10-year-old child missing shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Officials said the girl was found in the park shortly after 5 p.m. The child was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
At this time, the investigation is continuing, but there is no known danger to the public.
The investigation is being handled by the Special Victims Unit, assisted by members of the Union County Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Elizabeth Police Department.
