UPDATE: Man Wanted for Robbing Two Banks in Downtown Newark

Police in Newark requests the public’s help in identifying a male suspect wanted in two bank robberies that occurred Saturday.

Police say in both incidents, the suspect showed the teller a note demanding money.

According to police, the first incident occurred at 1:45 p.m. at Citi Bank, 721 Broad Street, where no money was taken.

The second incident occurred less than 10 minutes later at Chase Bank, 744 Broad Street, where $1,000.00 was taken.

The suspect is described as white, 5’2” to 5’6” tall and 130-150 lbs.

Police say he has a brown/orange beard and mustache and was wearing a gray hooded sweater, gray jeans, black and white flannel-patterned scarf, and black and white sneakers.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly identifying him as part of this investigation.
