UPDATE: Man Seriously Injured in Downtown Newark Shooting

Newark Police are investigating a downtown shooting that left a man seriously injured Saturday evening.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 20s block of Camp Street near Orchard Street. 

Residents reported hearing gunfire before spotting a man bleeding from his stomach and quickly alerted authorities.

Police arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach. 

EMS rushed him to University Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

Witnesses told police that several juveniles believed to be involved fled the scene on foot. 

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
