UPDATE: Man Killed in Union Township Car Crash

Union Township Police officials are investigating a crash that left one dead early Wednesday morning.

According to police, officers responded to a serious motor vehicle crash in front of 1561 Morris Avenue on July 13, at 3:12 a.m.

Police officials said that a blue 2015 Jeep Wrangler, operated by an older male, was traveling west on Morris Avenue when his vehicle mounted the sidewalk, striking various signs, posts, and fixtures. 

According to officials, the driver succumbed to his injuries on-scene and was pronounced dead at 3:32 a.m.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle. 

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, and police are investigating what caused the vehicle to go out of control. Officers are working on notifying the next of kin of the driver.

Police officials said that traffic was detoured from Morris Avenue for approximately five hours while the crash scene was processed and cleared.

This investigation is ongoing, pending further information and witness statements.
