A ShotSpotter alert prompted officers to respond, and upon arrival, they found multiple shell casings and immediately taped off the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing a male victim fall to the ground after a gunman opened fire, but he quickly got up and fled before police arrived.

As detectives canvassed the neighborhood for victims and suspects, officials at University Hospital contacted police to report a male had entered the emergency room suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities believe the victim found at the hospital is the same individual involved in the Summer Avenue shooting.

His condition has not been released.
