Authorities in Union Township are continuing to investigate a mass shooting that took place Saturday evening at a busy Chick-fil-A restaurant, leaving at least one person dead and several others seriously injured.
According to preliminary information reported by RLS Media, ABC 7 New York, and NJ.com, the violence erupted around 8:40 p.m. at the Route 22 location, sending dozens of patrons scrambling for safety as gunfire rang out.
Responding officers arrived to find multiple victims suffering gunshot wounds.

One was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene, while several others were rushed to area hospitals.
Their conditions have been described as serious, though officials have not released specific updates.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation but, as of 5:15 a.m. Sunday, has not released detailed information regarding a suspect, motive, or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Authorities have maintained a heavy presence in the area as detectives work to piece together what led to the incident.
