UPDATE: Gunfire Causes Property Damage on South 9th Street in Newark

Police confirmed no injuries in a violent shots-fired incident that erupted in a residential section of Newark on Wednesday evening. 

At approximately 6:25 p.m., residents near 155 South 9th Street called police after gunmen fired multiple rounds of bullets at unknown targets at that location. 

Police taped off the vicinity of 9th Street and 11th Avenue after officers found shell casings and vehicles struck by stray bullets. 

Residents took to social media and reported a male ran from the scene bleeding, but police say no injuries were reported. There was no information on any hospital walk-in gunshot victims. 

The motive for the shooting is under investigation. 

No arrests have been reported.
