UPDATE: Franklin Township Man Charged in New Brunswick Murder

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson, and Director Anthony Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department announced that a man from Franklin Township was charged yesterday with the murder of a 26-year-old Somerset man last weekend.

 

Officials say Abubakaar “Diddy” King, 26, of Franklin Township, was charged with the murder of Darren Fordham Jr. The victim’s body was found in a wooded area near Phillips Road and the Pine Grove School, in Franklin Township on July 1, 2018, with multiple gunshot wounds.

 

According to authorities, the New Brunswick Police Department determined that the homicide took place in the City of New Brunswick, at the Hamilton Garden Apartments, on June 30th.

 

Police arrested King on July 5th and charged him with murder in the first degree, desecrating human remains in the second degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the second degree, possession of a weapon in the third degree, hindering one’s own apprehension in the second degree, and tampering with evidence in the fourth degree.

 

Officials say he is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick pending a Detention Hearing in New Brunswick Superior Court.

 

The investigation is active and is continuing.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against King are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
