UPDATE: Elizabeth Woman's Daughter Ejected from Vehicle, Struck by Motorist in Nutley

A 12-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after she was ejected from a car in a single-vehicle crash on Route 21 but then struck by another motorist.

According to reports, a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old Elizabeth woman traveling on the highway's southbound lanes, near Exit 8, around 9:30 a.m. when she swerved and struck a guardrail ejecting her daughter from the vehicle. Another motorist then struck the girl on Route 21.

EMS transported the Elizabeth woman to an area hospital where she was treated and released. However, her 12-year-old daughter remained critical after suffering serious injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
